Freedom Residence Suites
About The Concept
Welcome to Freedom Residence Suites, an accommodative housing innovation for older adults and people with disabilities. The purpose of this site is to provide a resource and background materials to develop an alternative to nursing homes and assisted living settings. These residences would have private residence suites connected to central common service areas that are barrier-free. Residents can live with their spouse, child, or caregiver. They would also have direct access to supportive services that would include monitoring, prompting and supervision, with access to licensed care while being actively engaged in the community. Assets are preserved consistent with Medicaid guidelines and shared costs reduce the cost of living so as to avoid a need for Medicaid. These residences could be located in any urban or rural area with better access to community-based services. The residence would provide three meals a day, with food and environment security. Suites would have a hazard-free kitchenette, as well as a bedroom or two, a sitting room and fully accommodative bath. The purpose being, that residents can remain through end-of-life without needing to transfer to nursing homes, assisted living, institutionalized settings, group homes, and hospice facilities. All interior and exterior areas are barrier-free with memory care design, that encourages independent movement and engagement with the internal community, as well as direct access to exterior areas with natural barriers. The goal is a better quality of life while maintaining core relationships and providing support while alleviating the burdening reliance on licensed staff with better accessible home environments.
Informational Video
Joseph J. Ranni, Esq. explains the plan in detail. What needs this type of housing meets, the demand for settings to become more like home, preventing individuals from moving into institutionalized settings, while providing person-directed care.
